ODESSA — Stephen M. Nichols, born Oct. 12, 1947, in Findley, Ohio, died Tuesday, Nov. 4, at the age of 57 in Odessa, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, 2003, in the chapel of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors with Rev. Jim Ray Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive guests from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. Nichols had worked in telecommunications, electronics, real estate, retail sales, law enforcement and opened Nichols Enterprises, a private investigations company, in 1988. Mr. Nichols was a member of TALI, NALI, NCISS. He was a graduate of Lake Michigan College, Benton Harbor, Mich., and Grand Valley State Colleges, Allendale, Mich. He held Advanced Police Certification in Michigan and was a Master Peace Officer in Texas. He was active in amateur radio, Red Cross and Skywarn. Mr. Nichols was a live steam rail enthusiast and recently became active in NARCOA, North American Railcar Operator Association.
Mr. Nichols was a member of Fellowship Masonic Lodge #1385 and a Past Master of Goldsmith Masonic Lodge. He was a member of Blue Lodge, York Rite and Scottish Rite. He was preceded in death by his parents, George D. and Ernestine C. (Hinton) Nichols of Ann Arbor, Mich.; and his brother, A. David Nichols of Cincinnati, Ohio. Mr. Nichols is survived by his wife, Ann Nichols of Odessa; son, Andrew D. Nichols of Siemach AFB, Germany; daughters, Jodi and husband, John Balstad, of Dallas, and Heather Nichols of Odessa. Services entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
