      VERGIL E. HAYS SERVICES ON TUESDAY AT THE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
       Tuesday afternoon, April 20, at 2 p.m. funeral services were held for Vergil E. Hays from the Villisca United Presbyterian Church. Clergyman was Rev. Nadim E. Saikaly.
       Vergil was born in Dallas Center, Iowa, October 7, 1906 and entered into rest April 7, 1971 in Villisca. He was a veteran of World War 11 and a member of the American Legion.
       Pall bearers were Clarence Hilleary, Dennis Neal, Robert Freshour, Herman Christie, Ernie Olson, Jim Olson, Lyle Brenton, and Wine Scott. Alice Neal and Izola Jenkins were flower bearers. Francis Gray, accompanied by Elaine Artlip, presented the selections, “God Understands” and “Prayer Perfect.” Edna Nelson and Cleo Petty were in charge of the register with Judd Means and Paul Fisher ushers. Concluding services were held at the Villisca Cemetery with Sutphen Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. A memorial fund has been established. Contributions may be sent to Mrs. Hays or left at Judd Means hardware.
