Doris Gosselin Straight, 89, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012. Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at Bivins Memorial Nursing Home in the sunroom with Chaplain Jeff Messer officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Doris was born in Springfield, Mass., on Dec. 24, 1922. Doris married George Straight on May 29, 1943, and raised five children. Doris attended Beckingham Junior High in Springfield, Mass., and later went on to Commerce, where she learned typing and her secretarial skills. Doris was a loving wife and mother. Doris and George moved from Massachusetts in 1969, and later settled in Lubbock until they were relocated to Amarillo in 2001.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rhea and Herbert Gosselin; her husband, George Straight; and a daughter, Virginia Bosworth. Survivors include her sister, Elaine Carberry of MA; three sons, David Straight of ME, Steven Straight of CO, and William Straight of CA; a daughter, Julia Richardson of TX; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
