Genevieve M. Skinner of Dracut, MA; 83
Friends and loved ones will be saddened to learn of the death of Genevieve (Akstin) Skinner at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill, MA, on Tuesday morning, June 14. “Genny”, as she was known to most everybody, was the daughter of the late Anthony & Malvina Akstin. She was 83. She suffered from cancer that ultimately overtook her. She was the wife of the late Charles P. Skinner who died from ALS in 1979 at the age of 50. The couple had two children, Elizabeth and John, upon whom they doted. In her early life, Genny and Chuck, lived in Manhattan where Genny worked as an Executive Secretary. Later the Skinners moved to MA. Genny loved spending time with her children and later, her grandchildren. Genny loved all sports, especially the New England Patriots, as well as any comedy – always laughing and loved music of all kinds.
She attended Grace Bible Church in Dracut and believed in Jesus Christ as her Savior and faithfully prayed for her children, grandchildren and her friends every day.
Genny will be greatly missed by her daughter, Elizabeth and her husband, Dominic Buonarosa Jr. of Pelham, NH; her son, John and his wife, Paula (Schiripo) of Hudson, NH. She leaves behind four grandsons; Paul Jutras of Malden, MA, David Skinner of St. Paul, MN, Phillip Skinner of Greenville, SC and Matthew Skinner of Hudson, NH. She will also be greatly missed by many close friends; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband; Genny was also predeceased by two brothers, Anthony and Francis Akstin and a sister, Antoinette Akstin.
A celebration of Genny’s life will be held on Monday, June 20, at Grace Bible Church, 517 Methuen St., Dracut, MA. Visitation and light refreshments will begin at 5 PM in the church’s Fellowship Hall with a Memorial Service to follow at 6:30 PM and visitation again after. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to the Merrimack Valley Hospice House, 360 North Avenue, Haverhill, MA 01830.
