Pope Paul’s Blessing To Couple Read At St. Apollinaris Church An Apostolic Blessing from Pope Paul VI in Rome was read by the Rev. Francis Ralph during the 11 a.m. Nuptial Mass of Coleen Ann Beard and Kenneth Bruce Kneeland, married Sept. 13 at St. Apollinaris Catholic Church.
Officiating at the Concelebrated Mass were the Rev. James Georhegan of the Carmelite Monastery in Oakville, and the Rev. Patrick C. Stephenson of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
Father Georghegan’s vestment was made by the bride’s sister, Eileen Beard. Fashioned of white brocade, it featured a glod cross with two gold linked rings which bore the initials of the couple.
Escorted by the bride’s sisters, Judy and Ronnie Beard, the Rev. Mother M. Aloysius, S.M., principal of St. Apollinaris School, and Sister M. Carol Quinn, O.P., principal of Siena High School, carried the cruets to the altar during the offertory. The bride’s brother, Wain, and cousin, Wain Mailhot, served the Mass.
The couple exchanged vows in front of an altar decorated with two banners made by the Sisters of Mercy, and enhanced by baskets of white gladioli, chrysantemums and daisies.
Coleen, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wain Beard, was given the marriage by her father. The father of the groom, Frank Kneeland, read the wedding epistle.
Organist was Mrs. Warren Dowling and the bride’s sister, Eileen, sang “Salve Regina” as the bride placed her bouquet at the altar.
The bride’s sisters Adrienne and Roisin Beard were bridesmaids, dressed in gowns identical to the maid of bonor. Adrienne wore a green gown trimmed in pink velvet, with pin head-piece, and Roisin’s gown was pink with green trim.
John Martin was best man for the occasion, with the grooms brother Paul Kneeland, and Dennis Duffy, as ushers.
The mother of the bride was escorted to her place of honor wearing an avocado green ensemble with flared skirt and long sleeves, highlighted by gold accessories. Her corsage was of miniature white carnations.
The groom’s mother, Mrs. Frank Kneeland, wore a pale blue lace dress and coat with deep blue accessories.
Greeting guests at the recep- tion which followed at Churchill Manor was Mrs. Otto Boling who was in charge of the guest book.
Guests were served champagne punch and sandwiches and danced to the music of the Norman Lee Orchestra.
For her going away costume, Coleen wore a beige suit with brown accessories. The couple recently returned from a honeymoon at Blue Lake in Lake County and now reside in McKinleyville.
Coleen was graduated from St. Johns Catholic School and St. Vincent’s High School in Vallejo. Since her graduation from Napa College, she was employed at Queen of the Valley Hospital in the laboratory.
