Manford H. Palmer, Jr.
SANDOWN – Manford H. “Manny” Palmer, Jr., 77, of Sandown, died Saturday, October 18, 2008 at his home.
Mr. Palmer was born in Amesbury, MA on August 12, 1931, the son of the late Manford and Nellie Olive (Kendrick) Palmer, Sr. A resident of Sandown for the last 60 years, he had previously lived in Amesbury.
He was a Sergeant in the US Army, having served in the 101st Airborne. Since 1972, Mr. Palmer was a member of the Newton Junction Baptist Church in Newton Junction, where he was a deacon and a Sunday school teacher for 33 years. He served as a police officer in the town of Sandown for 10 years. For one year, he was also employed as a Road Agent for the Sandown Highway Department and plowed snow for the town for several years.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ruth M. (Ray) Palmer of Sandown, one daughter, Donna McConnachie of Derry, two sons, Kevin Palmer of Pittsfield, and Michael Palmer of Sandown, three grandchildren, Ruby, Crystal and Bonnie McConnachie, all of Methuen, MA, three brothers, Arthur Palmer and his wife Helene of Merrimac, MA, Rev. Everett Palmer and his wife Pat of Ashland, MA, Robert Palmer of Merrimac, MA, and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sat., November 1, at 11:00 a.m., in the Newton Junction Baptist Church, 18 West Main St., Newton Junction. Memorial donations may be made to the Newton Junction Baptist Church, P.O. Box 206, Newton Junction, NH 03859.
