    1. [S4] Obituary.
Surrounded by the love of her granddaughters, Margaret T. DeLong, wife of the late, Donald DeLong, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at Shannex Tucker Hall, in Saint John, NB. Born on November 25, 1927, in Queenstown, NB, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Winnifred (nee Palmer) Cameron.
She is survived by her son, Mark DeLong; daughter-in-law, Sue DeLong; granddaughters, Robyn DeLong (Kyle McKinnon) and Nicole DeLong (Mark Gillingham); great-grandchildren: Ava, Mairin, Isla, Oliver, and Bronwyn; sister Donna Lloyd (Ray); brother, Lawrence Cameron; sister-in-law, Audrey Alexander; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by the love of her life, Don (2015) her beloved son, Brad (2018); her parents; sisters, Freda, Helen, and Greta; and her brother, Art Cameron.
A love story that spanned over 70 years, Marg and Don were role models for their family with their love, respect, dedication, and patience (primarily exhibited by Don as he sat on many mall benches as Marg spent hours shopping) for one another. The family that they created was their pride and joy. Marg left the workforce when Mark was born to stay at home and raise the boys. In later years Marg and Don would own and operate several businesses in the Lancaster Mall. In 1967, along with the Alexander family, Marg and Don opened the Town and Country Campground and Drive-In Theatre in Sussex New Brunswick. For 42 years they co-owned and operated the business and, in the process, many wonderful friendships and family memories were created. Marg was a woman who took great pride in her appearance; she was known for her classic hair style and was always “put together”. Even into her 90’s she was stylish and up to date on the latest fashion trends and had the wardrobe to prove it. She was beautiful inside and out. She was an amazing cook and loved good food, music and time with family and friends. Nothing was more important to Marg than her family; immediate and extended. Marg was a devoted and loving wife and mother. She excelled in her role as a grandmother to Robyn and Nicole and in turn, they adored her. In 2008 Marg gained the status of great grandmother and was affectionately known by the great grands as “Nana Banana”.
Marg was a proud and independent woman. She remained in her own home up until 6 months ago, when a period a failing health made it necessary for her family to move her to Shannex. Our family would like to acknowledge the neighbors on Bel Air Drive that looked out for her as she maintained her independence for as long as possible. We would also like to thank Rhonda Ellis; we are so appreciative of you and the care you provided to Marg over the last 7 years. Although we are immensely sad and will miss her presence, love, support, and friendship; we are so grateful for a long and full life that was well lived.
Arrangements are under the care of Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Rd. Quispamsis (849-2119) with visiting on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, from 1:00-3:00 PM. A celebration of Margaret’s life will follow at the funeral home at 3:00 PM. Interment will take place in Greenwood Cemetery at a later date. A livestream of the service will be available by clicking the link on Margaret’s obituary on the funeral home website. For those who wish, donations may be made to Bobby’s Hospice or your local SPCA.
