    Biographie succincte d’Auguste Achille Duché (1844-1921)
     1844 – Auguste Duché naît le 24 mai 1844 au Havre, de Jean Duché, marin puis maître d’équipage d’ascendance landaise et d’Antoinette Lenel, issue d’une famille boulonnaise du Pas-de-Calais.
     1846 – La vie commence douloureusement car son père, maître-d’équipage du trois-mâts français Le Normand, meurt lors d’un voyage à Saint-Domingue.
     1848 – En juillet, sa mère se remarie avec Alexandre Bordeaux, un marin du Havre qui mourra en 1867 à Paris.
     1863 – Le 24 novembre, mariage d’Auguste et de Rose Mordant. Ils sont tous les deux très jeunes (19 et 17 ans).
     1864 – Naissance d’un premier enfant, Victor Oscar, qui deviendra boulanger et s’établira en Corrèze pour y fonder une famille.
     1866 – Le 17 septembre, Rose décède juste après l’accouchement du deuxième enfant, Marie, qui ne lui survivra que deux jours.
     1868 – Le 14 mai, Auguste Duché se remarie avec Augustine Héloïse Davout.
     1848 – Le 13 octobre, naissance d’Eugénie Ernestine qui fondera une famille à Bordeaux avec Jean Briat.
     1877 – On trouve dans l’Almanach du commerce du Havre un « Duché, fabricant d’encre » situé au 6 rue Piedford. (Source : Almanach, publicité pleine page en fin de volume)
     1881 – En septembre, Auguste est témoin du mariage de sa belle-soeur, Marie-Léontine Davout où il apparaît comme domicilié à Paris et travaillant comme « fabricant d’encre » (la légende familiale dit que ses secrets de fabrique auraient été repris par Waterman).
     1882 – La maison « Duché, fabricant d’encres », située au 76, rue du Cardinal-Lemoine à Paris, fait faillite (Source : Bulletin de la papeterie, février 1882, n°2, page 61)
     1884 – De retour dans la région du Havre, il entame une liaison extra-conjugale qui durera 31 ans avec Jeanne Vernex.
     1885 – Naissance en janvier d’un premier fils de Jeanne : René Achille (fils qu’il reconnaîtra officiellement)
     1886 – Jeanne donne naissance à Aurore, laquelle mourra en très jeune âge (trois ans) à Levallois-Perret où le couple a déménagé. Peu après ce décès, nouveau déménagement au 3 rue Corneille à Paris 6e où Auguste est devenu « fabricant de bateaux ». Il s’agit sans doute de petits voiliers destinés au loisir des jeunes enfants autour du bassin octogonal du Jardin du Luxembourg, tout proche.
     1901 – On retrouve Auguste Duché de manière surprenante comme chef de famille au recensement qui a lieu dans la ville du Bouscat (Gironde). La famille Briat s’y est installée avec ses deux fillettes (Sabine et Blanche), impasse Baudin.
     1907 – La maison Duché est mentionnée dans Paris-Adresses, annuaire universel de l’industrie et du commerce, page 408, sous l’intitulé suivant : « Duché (A.), jouets scientifiques, Corneille, 3. »
     1908 – Auguste est absent au mariage de son fils Achille René à Brive, mais donne son consentement établi devant le maire de Malakoff.
     1916 – Jeanne Vernex décède.
     1918 – En décembre, Auguste Duché se remarie à Malakoff avec Henriette Goubron. Il est noté sur l’acte de mariage qu’il y exerce la profession de « modeleur ». Peu après, il est à nouveau domicilié rue Corneille à Paris 6e.
     1921 – Auguste décède en mars. Il est enterré au cimetière de Bagneux. Son épouse Henriette décèdera quinze ans plus tard (janvier 1936) à Ivry-sur-Seine.
