WEAVER, IRIS MARION – 87, of Fairview Villa, Halifax, N.S., died January 25, 2002. Born in Boutilier’s Point, N.S. on July 26, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Granville Ernest and Florence Josephine (Johnstone) Awalt. She had a wonderful sense of humour and lived by the good advice of “Hope for the best, get ready for the worst, and take what God sends.” She enjoyed the outdoors, was an avid gardener and loved spending time at their cottage in River John, N.S. Iris also had a love for music and dance, playing cards, cooking and sewing. She worked at Simpson Sears, the V. G. Hospital, and Moirs Chocolate Factory. She was a long time member of St. Phillip’s Anglican Church and had received honours for her many blood donations to the Red Cross. Surviving are her husband of 64 years, James Henry Weaver, Fairview Villa; son-in-law, Raymond Lloyd (Donna), Saint John, N.B.; four grandchildren, Andy Lloyd (Colleen), Aurora, O.N.; Janet Clinton (Chris) and Heather Lloyd, Saint John, N.B.; Jennifer Langille (Mark), Tatamagouche, N.S.; five great grandchildren, Emily and Ian Lloyd, Matthew and Meredith Clinton, Jack Langille; one sister, Olive MacDonald, Alabama, U.S.A.; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her step mother, Annie; daughter, Bonnie Lloyd; son, Paul Weaver; two sisters, Dorothy Dauphinee and Madeline Frame; and brother, Earl Awalt. Visitation will be 2-4 pm and 7-9pm on Sunday in Snow’s Funeral Home, Windsor St., Halifax. Funeral service will be held at 2 pm, Monday in St. Phillip’s Anglican Church, corner of Connaught and Bayer’s Rd, Halifax, Rev. Tanswell officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada or to The Bonnie Lloyd Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o 17 Ray Street, Saint John, N.B. E2K 2K3.
