FT. MYERS, FL —
Charles Albert Dudgeon, 87, of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away of natural causes on Monday, November 3, 2014.
Charles was born January 26, 1927 in Rockford, Ohio. After graduating from Rockford High School. He attended Bowling Green State University and obtained a degree in medicine from Ohio State University in 1954. Prior to graduation from college, he served in the Navy Reserves from 1945 to 1946.
After completing his residency at St. Rita’s Hospital in Lima, Ohio, Charles moved to Hartford City, Indiana and was a prominent general practice physician for forty-three years. He greatly enjoyed serving his community as a doctor and school board member.
His hobbies included reading, flying in his airplane and collecting cut glass from the American Brilliant Period.
Charles is survived by his wife of twenty-one years, Elizabeth; daughter, Melinda Lindell of Muncie; son, Mark Dudgeon of San Francisco; daughter, Deon Seifert of Indianapolis; step-daughter, Heather Goodrich of Fishers; step-son, Shawn Swearingen of Pendleton and ten loving grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Lela (High) Dudgeon of Rockford, Ohio; his brother, Clois Dudgeon, of Rockford, Ohio and his son, Douglas Dudgeon of Indianapolis.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, November 9, 2014 at Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City. A family burial service will be made at Union Cemetery, Eaton. Memorial donations may be given to any charity of choice in memory of Charles.
