Shirley Soltow, 71, of Elgin died Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital. Born in Oregon, IL on July 13, 1936, she was the daughter of Harry and Leona (Stukenberg) Glasgoe.
Shirley loved people and always helped others in any way she could. She was a den mother for Cub Pack 56 in Carpentersville. She worked for Motorola, Elgin Mental Health Center and later on, as a "baby sitter" for hospital patients. Shirley was a loving mother and grandmother and will be missed by both family and friends.
She is preceded in death by parents, Harry and Leona Glasgoe; husband, Elmer Soltow; and two sisters, Mary Orsted and Joanne Orsted.
She is survived by her two sons, Richard Soltow and John (Carol) Soltow; two grandchildren, Brittany and Matthew Soltow; seven siblings, Linda Wilson, Diane (Jim) Melton, Nancy (Jim) Davis, Don (Linda) Orsted, Steve (Sheila) Orsted, Dan (Sheila) Brennan, and Scott Brennan.
Visitation will be held Friday, February 29, 2008 from 9:00 A.M. until time of funeral service at 11:00 A.M. at O’Connor-Leetz Funeral Home, Pastor Larry Zea, officiating.
