Summersett, Susan Jane – age 59, of Grand Blanc died unexpectedly Friday, January 25, 2013 Mrs. Summersett was born July 20, 1953 in Newberry, MI the daughter of Elmer and Sally Lemke. She was a graduate of Newberry High School and Northern Michigan University where she received her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education and Masters degree in special education with an emphasis in learning disabilities. Sue had additional certifications as a Teacher consultant for Impaired and Learning disabilities. She taught for over 30 years focusing on science and special education, the majority at Atherton Van Y Elementary School. She participated in many professional development and educational associations. In addition to her professional endeavors, Sue had many interests. A Master Gardener, a talented quilter, a pianist, and accomplished organist, she pursued her interests with dedication, volunteering her talents in the community. She was an avid reader and an intrepid traveler. Family was most important to her and she enjoyed organizing family celebrations. Surviving are her devoted husband of 28 years Kenneth Summersett; Loving children, Bryan Kenneth Summersett of Seattle and Sara Jane Summersett of St. Louis, MO.; parents, Elmer and Sally Lemke of Newberry, MI; brothers, Stephen (Pamela Kupovits) Lemke of Beavercreek, Ohio, David (Laura Zarobinski) Lemke of Grand Blanc, MI; sister, Sandra (Gary) Jones of Mt. Pleasant, MI.; sister-in-law, Nancy (Summersett) Sherman and husband Terry of Gulliver, MI; brother-in-law, Mark (Barb) Summersett of L’Anse, MI; many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Summersett was preceded in death by her father and mother-in-law, Kenneth G. and Vivian M. Summersett of Newberry, MI. A Memorial Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hill Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at the funeral home. As were her wishes cremation has taken place with burial and graveside services in the spring at Forest Home Cemetery in Newberry, MI.
