Alice Elizabeth Middlebrook Fisher Age 96, of Needham, formerly of York, NE, West Newton and Wellesley, died peacefully May 24, 2011.
The loving wife of the late Robert Gordon Fisher. Alice will live in the memories of her daughters Anna Fisher of Richmond, CA and Deb Dalton of Baltimore, MD as well as in the hearts of her grandchildren Amanda Dalton and Nicholas Dalton, and great grandchildren Kalil, Imani, Gissel and Tonia Cruz. She will be deeply missed by her niece Judith Bruggemann and husband Charles and nephew, Rick Skinner.
A Smith and Wellesley graduate she taught English and went on to become an editor at Row Peterson Publishing. During World War II as a member of the Red Cross she met Bob, a Colonel in the army, in Hawaii. After their marriage they settled in the Boston area and raised their family in West Newton. Alice was dedicated to serving her community as a volunteer and board member of numerous organizations. She was an avid gardener who loved music, literature and travel. For 50 years she’s been a devoted member of The Second Church of Newton and will forever be remembered as a woman of great dignity, style and compassion.
A Memorial Service will be held June 24, 2011 at The Second Church in Newton at 2pm, 60 Highland St, West Newton, MA., 02465.
