McCarthy, Anne Leslie age 83, passed away peacefully November 24, 2007. Throughout her life, Anne believed in the importance of a strong education for everyone. She graduated from Northrop Collegiate School in 1942 and attended Vassar College where she developed a lifelong fascination for astronomy. She believed in applying lessons learned from history. Her passion for genealogy led her to become a Trustee of the National Society of Colonial Dames in Minnesota and to serve as a Director of the New England Historical Genealogical Society of Boston, MA. She felt a commitment to strengthen and serve the community. In Minneapolis, her community service included working as a Trustee of Stevens Square Home, Director of Goodwill Industries, and Chair of the Women’s Division of United Way.
Born December 29, 1923 to Frank P. and Ruth (Hill) Leslie, Anne is survived by loving husband of 60 years, Donald W. McCarthy of Edina, MN; beloved children, Dr. Donald McCarthy, Jr. (Carolyn) of Tucson, AZ, Peter McCarthy (Donna) of Mendota Heights, MN, Thomas McCarthy (Darlene) of Minnetonka Beach, MN and Dr. Jill McCarthy of Golden, CO; grandchildren, Deborah Fields and husband Jason of Manhattan Beach, CA, David McCarthy of Mesa, AZ, Nicholas and Courtney McCarthy of Mendota Heights, MN, and Adam and Andrew Brand of Minnetonka Beach, MN; sister, Ruth Leslie Bean and husband John of Naples, FL; and sister- in-law, Judith Corning Leslie of St. Paul (widow of Frank P. Leslie II). Preceded in death by parents, Frank P. and Ruth (Hill) Leslie; and siblings, Frank P. Leslie II, Mary Leslie Corrigan, and James Hill Leslie.
Service to be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, November 30, 2007 at Lakewood Chapel, 3600 Hennepin Ave. S., Mpls. Reception to follow.
