John W. Corey, 63, of Lee, died on March 29, 2006, from a sudden illness. He was born on Aug. 2, 1942, in Manchester, the son of the late William a nd Dorothy (Smith) Corey. He was a graduate of Memorial High School in Manchester, and the University of North Dakota. He retired from the United States Air Force and the Civil Service Department of Defense. He was employed as the controller for Exothermics as well as the treasurer for the Town of Lee.
He loved fishing, bowling, gardening and maintaining his blueberry farm. He was a devoted husband and family man who loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and walking his dogs, Joy and Holly. One of his favorite events was taking his family and friends fishing. One of his greatest joys was taking his grandchildren to the annual fishing derby. It was there that so much quality time was spent and the happiest of memories were made. His family will cherish these forever. All who knew him, loved him. He will be missed!
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Carla Corey of Lee; sons Timothy Corey and his wife, Diane, and their sons Daniel and Andrew Corey, of East Kingston, Mark Corey, of Lee, and his daughter Serena Edwards-Corey of Rochester; a daughter, Debra Meattey and her husband, Brendon, and their daughters Jessica and Rebecca Meattey, of Barrington; a brother, All an Corey and his wife, Virginia; sisters Cece Broeren, Cathy Poole and her husband, William, and Sandra Osborne and her husband, Leon; his mother in-law, Imogene Watts; cousins Jean and Julie Allwine, and nieces, nephews and many friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, William and Dorothy Corey, and his father-in-law, Lloyd Watts.
