James W. Riley, 62, of 1533 Greenview Drive, Bethlehem, died Wednesday at home. Lehigh County Coroner Wayne Snyder ruled the death a suicide from a gunshot wound. Riley was the husband of Mary (Gruber) Riley.
He was a metallurgical inspector for Bethlehem Steel Corp. before retiring in 1983. He also owned and operated a tobacco store in the Westgate Mall until 1983. Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of Elizabeth (Riley) Riley of Bath and the late Thomas Riley. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Bethlehem. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors: Wife and mother; sons, James W. Jr. of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Thomas of Putnam, Conn., and Sean of Bath; sister, Mrs. Minnie Kallaur of Grafton, Wis., and five grandchildren.
Services: 11 a.m. Monday, Snyder-Hinkle-Spatig Funeral Home, 527 Center St., Bethlehem. Call 7-8:30 p.m. Sunday.
