Miss Joyce E. Pittman is June Bride of Robert Messamer of Sioux Falls The wedding of Miss Joyce Elaine Pittman to Mr, Robert Millard Messamer took place at the First Methodist Church in Guthrie Center at 14:00 p.m on Sunday, June 29th.
Miss Pittman is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earnest Pittman of Guthrie Center. Mr. Messamer is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Homer L. Messamer of Panora. The-double ring ceremony was solemnized in a candle lighted setting by Rev. L. C. McDonald before the Altar decorated with candelabra and pink gladioli. Prenuptial organ music was played by Mrs. John H. Messamer of Xess City, Kansas. Vocal numbers offered by Mr. Larry Allen were “Ich liebe dich”, and “Through the Years.” Preceding the ceremony, candle-lighters Miss Leora Jane Rhodes, and Miss Joyce Elaine Wallace, nieces of the bride, wearing pink ballerina length dresses, lighted the candles at the altar and in the sanctuary. The bride wore a white satin gown with Junior train and Elizabethan collar. White satin buttons extended from the neckline to the waistline, and fitted sleeves ended in points at her wrists. Her fingertip veil was of Chantilly lace, attached to a white satin cap. The bride’s bouquet was of white callalillies. The Matron ot Honor, Mrs. J. H. Wallace of Mt. Clemens, Michigan, sister of the Bride, was attired in a pale yellow gown with scalloped neckline and carried a nosegay, of pink carnations. The bridesmaids, Miss Pat Ohnmucht of Shennandoah. and Mrs. Charles E. Coland of Adair, friends of the Bride, wore pale blue gowns styled in the same fashionjas that worn by the Matron of Honor. Their crowns-and nosegays also were of pink carnations. Miss Cecil Ellen Rhodes, niece of the Bride, was flower girl; Mr. Jeffrey Jontz, of Fonda, Iowa nephew of the Bride, carried the rings on a white satin pillow. The groom, best man, Mr. John H. Messamer, brother of the groom, Mr. Willard D. Forseth and Mr. Charles Messamer, ushers, both of Des Moines, wore summer formal wear with black carnation boutonnieres. The bride was given in marriage by her parents, represented by their son-in-law, Capl J. H. Wallace. The bride’s mother wore a tea blue street length dress, and a white gardenia corsage. The groom’s mother wore a street street length dress of blue lace, with white gardenia corsage. At the conclusion of the ceremony, as the couple knelt at the altar, Mr. Allen sang “The Lord’s Prayer.”
The couple received approximately 150 guests at a reception in the church parlors immediately following the ceremony. The parlors were decorated in lavender and Avhijte. This color scheme was continued at the bride’s table with a three layer white cake trimmed in lavendar, and lavendar and white mints. Guests were served by Miss Betty Rhodes, Miss Patricia Wallace, and Miss Modinc Driggs, nieces of the bride, who wore ballerina length dresses. Mrs. Lee Driggs of Sacramento, California, and Mrs. Russell Garwick, Mrs. Delose Rhodes as hottes sisted with the gifts. The bride left the church wearing a white-and-navy suit. with, a corsage of a single white callalillie from her bouquet, and gold necklace and earrings, a present from the groom.
The couple will make their home in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where the groom is employed. The bride expects to continue her studies at Iowa University.
