Genevieve “Duffy” Jacobson passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, April 20. Duffy and her husband, Bob Jacobson, moved to Fallbrook in 1990 after Bob’s retirement from IBM.
Duffy was born in Omaha, Nebr. on Nov. 9, 1928 and her parents were Dana and Genevieve McDuffee. She was raised in Piedmont, Calif. and she met Bob at Stanford University. They graduated in 1950, married in 1952, and recently celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary. Duffy and her family lived in New Zealand in the early 1960s, and spent almost 30 years in New Canaan, Conn. before moving to Fallbrook. She enjoyed traveling all over the world with Bob during his career with IBM and during their retirement years.
Duffy Jacobson was an enthusiastic and hard-working volunteer for many local organizations including the Fallbrook Library, the Fallbrook Music Society, and the Fallbrook Garden Club. She enjoyed spending time with the Fallbrook Niners golf group and her friends from Stanford and their monthly book club meetings. She also thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren at the family’s condominium in Aspen, Colo.
She is survived by her husband Bob; her two children, Peter Jacobson and Cathy Marich; and her six grandchildren, Katherine and Madeline Jacobson, and Sarah, Martha, Aimee and Sam Marich. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, June 1, at 2 p.m. in the community room at the Fallbrook Library.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be sent to the Friends of the Fallbrook Library or the Fallbrook Music Society.

NUPTIAL VOWS will be exchanged by Genevieve McDuffee and Robert Jacobson at February 23 rites, which will be performed at Corpus Christi Church in Piedmont. Following the 4 o’clock ceremony, a reception will be held at the Women’s Athletic Club in Oakland. Lois Millington of Los Angeles will be maid of honor and bridesmaid roles have been assigned to Mrs. E. Roy Raphael, Barbara Strang, Nancy Mallett and Mrs. Joseph Balestra (Patricia Friend). Jack Golenor will do best man duties and ushers will be Gordon Luce, Morgan Baird, Frank Rohner and Walter Mof-fatt. They are all Stanford Chi Psi fraternity brothers of the prospective bridegroom. The bride-elect, a member of Stanford’s Cap and Gown, is the daughter of the Dana E. McDuffee of Piedmont and her fiance is the son of Alfred Jacobson of Huntington Park and th late Mrs. Jacobson.
